Last month, Mr Catalano resigned his directorship of 20 Cashews Pty Ltd, an entity that owns Australian Community Media. He also resigned from 19 Cashews Pty Ltd, which has a stake in Southern Cross Media. Mr Catalano's son, Jordan Catalano, was appointed in his place.
Mr Catalano appeared via video link today from an undisclosed location, wearing a suit and tie.
He is yet to enter a formal plea to the charges.
