CBI Recreates Twisha Sharma Death Scene with Dummies and Sacks

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday recreated the crime scene at the residence of former judge Giribala Singh as part of its ongoing probe into the death of Twisha Sharma, with investigators seeking to reconstruct the sequence of events and verify statements recorded during the investigation, sources said.

The reconstruction exercise was carried out at Singh’s residence, where investigators have used dummies and sacks to simulate positions and movements of individuals present at the time of the incident.

Sources said the exercise was aimed at cross-checking witness accounts, identifying possible inconsistencies and gaining clarity on the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.

Officials familiar with the probe said crime-scene recreations are typically conducted to scientifically assess testimonies and determine whether statements recorded during questioning align with physical evidence and the layout of the scene.

The exercise assumes significance as the CBI intensifies its investigation following the arrest of Giribala Singh, a retired judge and mother-in-law of Twisha Sharma, in the high-profile case.

Singh was taken into custody by the CBI last week after the Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed the anticipatory bail granted to her.

Following the court order, the agency secured police remand and has since been questioning her as part of its investigation.

Sources said investigators are examining multiple aspects of the case, including the events leading up to Twisha Sharma’s death, statements of family members and the sequence of developments immediately after the incident.

The case pertains to the death of Twisha Sharma at her matrimonial home in Bhopal, which later came under the CBI scanner following allegations raised by her family and demands for an independent probe.

Meanwhile, Giribala Singh’s police remand is scheduled to end on Tuesday. The agency is expected to decide whether to seek an extension of custody or produce her before the court for judicial remand.
