The family of Savannah Spence Paige, who was killed in a car crash in Far North Queensland on Wednesday, say they are "beyond devastated by her passing".

The 25-year-old Kewarra Beach resident died at the scene of the crash on the Smithfield Bypass in northern Cairns.

On Friday afternoon, Ms Spence Paige's family issued a statement thanking the community for supporting them "during the horrific loss of our beautiful Savannah".

"We are beyond devastated by her passing," the statement said.

"Savannah was beautiful inside and out, with a smile that lit up every room.

"She had an incredible sense of humour, a kind and caring heart, and was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Loved ones 'struggle to comprehend'

Ms Spence Paige and her husband, Lachie Paige, relocated to Cairns in 2024.

The family said the couple, who previously lived on the Gold Coast, was "only just beginning the next chapter of their lives together".

"They had built a new home and community in Cairns and were excited about the future they were creating," the family's statement said.

"During this unimaginable time, we have been surrounded by extraordinary kindness, compassion and support.

"We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the detectives from Queensland Police Service and the many emergency and support services who have treated our family with such professionalism, care and respect throughout the investigation.

"Their compassion has meant more to us than words can express."

An online fundraiser has been organised to support Mr Paige, a self-employed carpenter.

He and Ms Spence Paige had been together since 2017 and were approaching their second wedding anniversary.

Family 'not facing heartbreak alone'

The family also thanked the communities of Cairns and the Gold Coast for "the overwhelming outpouring of love, kindness and support".

"Every message, phone call, gesture of compassion has reminded us that we are not facing this heartbreak alone," the family said.

A candlelight vigil has been organised to honour Ms Spence Paige's life in Cairns on Sunday evening.

"We are deeply touched by this beautiful tribute and the love that has been shown to our family," the statement said.

"As we try to come to terms with the loss of our precious Savannah, we ask for privacy as we grieve and support one another through the days and weeks ahead.

"Thank you for keeping Savannah, Lachie and our entire family in your thoughts.

"Savannah will be loved always, remembered forever, and never forgotten."

It is alleged that Jake Edward Warn, 36, was under the influence of an intoxicating substance when he crashed a stolen ute into two cars, including Ms Spence Paige's SUV.

He has been charged with several offences, including manslaughter.

Mr Warn has been remanded in custody and his case is next due to be heard at the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 27.
