According to Thai authorities, emergency responders were called to a luxury residential village in the Bang Phli district at around 3 p.m. local time after reports that a foreign man had entered a lake while behaving erratically. Police said rescue divers searched the water for roughly 30 minutes before recovering Murphy's body about 20 metres from the edge of the pond. Officials reported that there were no signs of assault on the body. Investigators said a video recorded by a village employee allegedly showed Murphy experiencing what witnesses described as a psychotic episode before running toward the lake and entering the water. He reportedly swam into deeper sections of the lake before becoming exhausted. Onlookers were unable to reach him because the water was believed to be more than 10 metres deep. The body has been sent for a full forensic examination. Authorities are also conducting toxicology tests to establish whether any substances contributed to the incident.
