A Florida man has been accused of trying to steal a medical helicopter after claiming he saw the anti-Christ before crashing his truck on a highway.
Riley Ferrer, 28, was driving on I-75 near Tampa on Friday night when his pickup truck veered off the road, Fox 13 News reported, citing the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck slammed into another vehicle before it flipped over in the woods.
A pair of individuals inside the second vehicle sustained major injuries, and a BayFlight medical helicopter landed nearby after the road was shut down to evacuate them.
While first responders readied the patients for transport, Ferrer allegedly rushed past them and tried to get away in the helicopter. His attempt was not successful.
He reportedly relayed to law enforcement that he witnessed the anti-Christ just moments before his truck crashed into the woods, according to Fox 13 News.
Officials transported Ferrer to Tampa General Hospital–Brooksville, but said he had to be “physically escorted inside” after refusing to comply. Once there, he continued to refuse cooperation, prompting troopers to forcibly keep him seated.
Once he was cleared of medical issues, he was brought to the Hernando County Detention Center. There, he continued to resist.
Ferrer has been charged with three counts of resisting officers without violent obstruction and one count of burglary, according to county jail records, which do not include bond details.
It’s not clear what condition the two injured people are in, according to Fox 13 News.
The Independent has reached out to the Florida Highway Patrol for comment.
