Police in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district have arrested four people for allegedly trafficking a 14-year-old girl and gang-raping her after selling her for Rs 32,000 under the pretext of marriage, officials said on Friday.

According to PTI, the arrests were made under the 'Umang Abhiyan-VII' anti-human trafficking drive.

The accused have been identified as Roshni Khatun (22), Aafreen alias Noorjahan, Afsana alias Bijli, and Mohammad Zishant alias Dishu (21).

The case was registered at Dargah police station on June 13, 2026, after the girl’s mother complained that her minor daughter had been lured away by two women — Afsana alias Bijli and Marjeena.

Police said a search operation was launched and the girl was later rescued from Sardarshahar in Churu district.

Following her statement, medical examination and other evidence, police invoked relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Investigators said the case involved a planned conspiracy to sell the minor under the guise of marriage and sexually assault her.

Based on her statement, medical examination report and other evidence, relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were invoked.

Circle officer, Dargah, Laxmanram said, "The minor was systematically lured, trafficked and sold for Rs 32,000 for marriage, after which she was gang-raped. The girl was rescued from Sardarshahar. Four accused have been arrested so far."

On being produced before court, Mohammad Zishant alias Dishu and Roshni Khatun were sent to judicial custody, while police remand was granted for Afsana alias Bijli.

Search for the remaining accused, Marjeena is underway, police said.
