Four men sentenced for attempted murder in Västerås, Sweden

It was in Eriksborg in Västerås in August 2024 that the planned attempted murder took place. Three boys who were under 15 years old at the time were provided with weapons and given the task of shooting three people dead. A total of 13 shots were fired at one of the targets, who managed to escape the scene on an electric scooter.

Now, four men, between 22 and 26 years old, have been convicted of planning the attack. The quartet is convicted of involving a minor in criminal activity and aiding and abetting attempted murder. For all of them, it will be long prison sentences; from eight years and six months to twelve years and six months. The man who received the longest prison sentence will also be deported. All deny guilt.

Young shooters were assaulted

Västmanlands tingsrätt considers that the shooting against the man was characterized by particular ruthlessness. It occurred near a school at a time when many children were outdoors, which means that the crime has a "very high penalty value" according to the district court.

Two of the persons who were targets of the shooting are convicted of assault, and receive three and four years in prison, respectively. This is after they, in Bäckbyskogen, beat down two of the underage boys who fired the shots the week before.
