27' Isak shot forces save from Maignan
A
By Andrew McGarry
We're back after the break, and Sweden are on the attack, Gyokeres gets fouled, and there is a free kick from Ayari.
He rolls it through on the right, and Alexander Isak gets his foot to it. He doesn't get power on it, but MIke Maignan still has to make a diving stop at the near post!
Boos for the drinks break
A
By Amanda Shalala
You can't boo the hydration break when it's this hot! It's become a gimmick now for all fans to boo it arbitrarily, but today I need it, and I'm in the stands, in the shade.
Allez Les Bleus
A
By Amanda Shalala
I'm sitting near a big section of Les Bleus fans and they have not stopped singing for a second of this game. It helps that they are in the shade so can keep up the energy a bit longer than those in the sun.
They're behind the Sweden goals so are willing a goal in this half so they can have prime viewing position.
20' Mbappé goal called offside!
A
By Andrew McGarry
France is looking dangerous here, and Olise puts Mbappé through!
He slots it past the keeper, and the crowd goes wild, but the flag is up!
The replay is interesting, but it doesn't matter, the goal isn't given. Sweden are still level.
19' Bradley Barcola surges clear before fierce shot
A
By Andrew McGarry
Great move there, with Bradley Barcola surging into the box and blasting it over the bar.
18' Gyokeres clattered but free kick cleared
A
By Andrew McGarry
Sweden playing well here, Gyokeres was clattered on the left wing. The free is sent in, France handle it.
16' Shot from Mbappé but no joy
A
By Andrew McGarry
Another move from France finds Kylian Mbappé inside the Swedish half.
Mbappé has a ping from distance, but it's not really dangerous.
14' French corner comes to nothing
A
By Andrew McGarry
Some nice passing from Bradley Barcola to Lucas Digne to Adrien Rabiot to Kylian Mbappé to Koundé, and his cross goes off a defender and out for a corner.
The corner is cleared, and a shot comes back in, but is easily taken.
11' Shot into the stands from Sweden
A
By Andrew McGarry
Sweden is playing well at the moment. Nothing too extravagant, but they are keeping in this.
A nice break down the left, and Elliot Stroud goes for glory — his shot is sent into the stands. Still 0-0 and the Scandinavians have looked ok so far.
10' Sweden break and hold it inside French half
A
By Andrew McGarry
That was better from Sweden. A nice interception then found Isak, who sent a lovely through ball down the right for Gyokeres.
He held it up and the Swedish had possession in the forward half for a while. Not shot, but the French defence were reminded that Sweden have options in attack.
7' Sweden getting up close and personal to Michael Olise
A
By Andrew McGarry
Sweden is operating a very energetic forward pressure, closing down the French whenever they can.
Lucas Bergvall just clattered Michael Olise, who will remember that one.
5' Open game in New Jersey
A
By Andrew McGarry
The play is open enough to start with. France haven't put it together yet, but Sweden are VERY on edge at the back.
4' Free to France cleared by Sweden
A
By Andrew McGarry
Danger there with a free kick to France on the right.
The ball is swung in, and Sweden don't clear it easily, there's a bit of head tennis, but eventually it's sent away.
3' First shot from Isak saved by France
A
By Andrew McGarry
That was better from the Swedes, they go forward down the left, it's Gyokeres to Alexander Isak, who gets a shot off which is taken easily by the keeper Mike Maignan.
2' Solid start, no chances
A
By Andrew McGarry
It's been a quiet start to the game, with a few solid challenges but nothing too exciting. That could change at any second, though.
We are underway for France vs Sweden!

By Andrew McGarry
Here we go!
Will the managers keep their teams tidy and defensive, or could we have absolute attacking carnage here?
Between Mbappé, Dembélé, Olise and Co, plus Elanga, Isak and Gyökeres, this has the potential to turn into a shootout.
RIP my typing fingers if that happens, but I don't think anyone would hate that scenario if it happened!
Let's go!

By Amanda Shalala
I am pumped for this one, knockout football just hits the feels differently.
It is packed here in the stadium, not a whole lot of yellow, so likely to be dominated by Les Blues fans this afternoon.
Some seriously talented strike power will be on show here, let's hope they can live up to the hype.
PS can confirm, still VERY hot
Time for the anthems
A
By Andrew McGarry
It's time for the anthems and first up is La Marseillaise ... and the heavy contingent of French fans are giving it socks. A big roar at the end!
And now the Swedish anthem, Du gamla, du fria.
A more stately anthyem this, but still stirring. Nice use of French horn there!
There are plenty of Swedish fans in the crowd singing along, and manager Graham Potter and his team are lined up in full voice. Nice work!
Offene Fragen
- Will the heat affect player performance?
- Will either team score in the second half?
