India will host the 11th Brics energy ministers' meeting in Gurugram on June 25-26 under its Brics Chairship, bringing together ministers and officials from member nations to strengthen cooperation on energy security, sustainability, technology and innovation.

The meeting comes at a time when the world is grappling with the challenge of meeting rising energy demand while ensuring affordability, supply security and climate commitments.

Power ministry officials said India will use the platform to showcase its energy transition, including rapid growth in solar capacity, deployment of smart meters, expansion of renewable energy infrastructure, advances in energy storage and progress on biofuels, including achieving 20% ethanol blending.

The discussions are expected to culminate in greater collaboration among Brics nations, which collectively account for nearly half of the world's population and around 40% of the global GDP.

As the world's third-largest producer and consumer of electricity, and one of the fastest-growing major economies, India sees secure, affordable and sustainable energy as a cornerstone of its Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, officials said.

The meeting will provide India an opportunity to showcase its progress in building a sustainable energy system, they said.
