The IT Ministry, however, found this explanation inadequate and has summoned Meta's global public policy head. Sources indicate Meta may meet with government officials later this week to discuss the issue further. An email seeking comments from Meta remained unanswered.

The incident highlights tensions between the Indian government and social media platforms over content moderation. IT Secretary S Krishnan stated that while Meta's apology was acknowledged, more details are sought. Meta's automated filters, powered by AI, were blamed for the mistake, inadvertently removing the post. The company must now enhance its content review process to prevent future incidents, especially for high-profile accounts.
