KDDI co-founder's heirs taxed ¥750 million for undervalued corporate shares

Tokyo tax authorities have assessed approximately ¥750 million in undeclared gift tax against the four children of the late Senbon Kosho, co-founder of DDI (now KDDI), for undervaluing corporate shares gifted to them. The children had estimated the value of three Tokyo condominiums at ¥800 million, but the tax bureau re-evaluated them at ¥3.4 billion, leading to a追徴課税 (additional tax assessment) of ¥178 million including penalties.
