The Brisbane Broncos have suffered another injury to a high-profile player, with Pat Carrigan needing surgery.

The Broncos announced Carrigan sustained a syndesmosis injury in last weekend's shock loss to the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The club said surgery was needed to fix the injury, which will sideline the Queensland Orign rep for approximately six weeks.

The club put out a statement this evening:

The Brisbane Broncos can confirm Patrick Carrigan has had surgery to repair a syndesmosis injury suffered in Round 13 against the Dragons.

He is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks.

Carrigan's recovery time frame will rule him out of the remaining two State of Origin matches for the Maroons.
