Renault Korea Motors April Sales Plunge 40.5% on Weak Demand

SEOUL, May 4 (Yonhap) -- Renault Korea Motors Co., the South Korean unit of France's Renault S.A., said Monday its April sales plunged more than 40 percent from a year earlier on poor demand in both the domestic and overseas markets. The automaker sold 6,199 vehicles last month, down 40.5 percent from a year earlier, the company said in a release. Domestic sales fell 23.4 percent on-year to 4,025 last month, and overseas sales dived 58 percent to 2,174 over the cited period. Sales of the Filante sport utility vehicle (SUV), which hit the market in March, totaled 2,139 units in the South Korean market, the largest among the company's line-up.
