Rostec develops Citadel anti-aircraft system to counter drones

MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Russia’s Rostec State Corporation has developed the Citadel anti-aircraft artillery system to protect against various types of enemy drones, Rostec reported, noting that it will be showcased for the first time at the First International Security Forum.

"Rostec State Corporation will unveil the newest anti-aircraft artillery system, Citadel, at the First International Security Forum. It effectively counters various types of enemy drones thanks to automation and ‘smart’ projectiles. The system’s high performance has already been proven in real-world conditions," the state tech corporation said.

The system’s projectiles, equipped with a remote-controlled fuse, are filled with shrapnel. The Citadel’s guidance system calculates the most advantageous detonation point based on the target’s trajectory. Significantly fewer of these projectiles are required to destroy a single target than conventional ammunition, Rostec specified.

The International Security Forum will be held at the Live Arena venue in the Moscow Region from May 26-29 under the auspices of the Russian Security Council. Rostec companies will also showcase the S350M-E short-range unmanned aerial vehicle system and combat payloads for various types of drones, the Skat-350M reconnaissance drone with Kub-2E loitering munitions, and an airspace control system.

IT solutions with artificial intelligence elements will also be presented, including hardware and software systems for control, video analytics, and protection against cyber threats. Forum visitors will be able to see products from the Kalashnikov Group, High-Precision Systems, RT-Project Technologies, RT-Information Security, and other companies. Russia’s special state exporter Rosoboronexport, part of Rostec, will organize a separate exhibit.
