ビルは地上13階建て。コンビニエンスストアのファミリーマート（7月7日開業）が入る地下1階は、札幌駅前地下歩行空間と直結する。2～4階に入るWeWork（本社・米ニューヨーク）は世界各地に600拠点以上を構え、札幌が国内42カ所目。会員企業間のビジネスマッチングも実施しており、4月には通信大手ソフトバンクと共同でAI（人工知能）スタートアップの支援事業を開始。2025年11月には札幌市と連携協定を締結している。
21日の記者発表では、WeWorkにオフィスを構えるプロ野球・北海道日本ハムの元投手で実業家としても活動する斎藤佑樹さんが「始球式」に登場。「ここを拠点に観光やスポーツだけでなく、ビジネスという意味でも一緒に成長できたら」と話した。
札幌市の秋元克広市長は「スタートアップの方が気軽に使うことができる場所の提供だけでなく、コミュニティーのサポートも頂けるのが大きい」と期待した。【西本紗保美】
