Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Named Deputy of Ishan Kishan for East Zone in Duleep Trophy 2026

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, India's teenage batting sensation, has been named vice-captain of the East Zone squad for the 2026 Duleep Trophy, led by captain Ishan Kishan. This appointment marks another milestone in Sooryavanshi's rapidly rising career, fresh from winning the Player of the Series award during India's tour of Zimbabwe. Sooryavanshi will open the batting alongside experienced Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran. The East Zone squad blends experienced international cricketers, including Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar, with emerging talent. Notably, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami returns to the domestic circuit after missing international action since the 2025 Champions Trophy final. The squad also includes all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed and Jharkhand batter Virat Singh. Riyan Parag and Akash Deep miss out due to ongoing rehabilitation from surgeries.
