Banksy has installed a new statue in Waterloo Place, St James's, depicting a suited man walking forward off a plinth while carrying a flag that covers his face. The artwork, installed in the early hours of Wednesday, was revealed when Banksy posted a video on Instagram on Thursday. The location was chosen deliberately in an area designed to celebrate imperialism and military dominance in the 1800s, near statues of Edward VII, Florence Nightingale and the Crimean War Memorial. Art commentator James Peak described it as a "brilliant comment on a bumptious, chest puffed out man in power with the flag completely obscuring his vision." This marks Banksy's latest London work following a series of pieces in 2024 and 2025.
