A CNBC and SurveyMonkey survey reveals over half of Americans believe the American Dream is unattainable for most, citing cost of living, housing prices, healthcare costs, and low wages as major hurdles.
The CNBC All-America Economic Survey finds nearly 80% of Americans have altered spending habits due to soaring gas prices, with over 50% believing the increases will persist six months or more. Gas prices have surged more than 30% to exceed $4 per gallon since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on Feb. 28. About 60% have cut entertainment spending, while 40% are spending less on essentials like groceries and medical care. President Trump has dismissed concerns, stating prices are 'not very high.'
The latest CNBC All-America Economic Survey shows President Trump's overall approval at 40%, a 5-point drop from last quarter, with net approval falling to -18 — the lowest of his two terms. Economic approval dropped to 39%/60%, the worst for either term. The decline is attributed to dissatisfaction with the Iran war, high gasoline prices and negative economic views. The survey of 1,000 respondents has a +/- 3.1% margin of error.
