West Ham on brink a decade after David Sullivan announced his ‘big club’ feelings

The club chair said the move to the London Stadium showed they were not a ‘tinpot club’ but now relegation threat loomsWhen David Sullivan was pressed on why West Ham bothered to move to the London Stadium, the lack of substance to his argument offered a window into the club’s dysfunction. “I just think we feel like a big club,” Sullivan said in an interview with the Guardian in December 2017. “Not a tinpot club. When players come to look at West Ham, they look at where you play.”Look deeper, though. West Ham fans celebrate Karren Brady departure but demand Sullivan follow

West Ham fans celebrating Karren Brady's departure as vice-chair after 16 years say the "No More BS" campaign is not finished until David Sullivan also exits. Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky is increasing his stake by buying Gold family shares, matching Sullivan's holding and creating an equal boardroom partnership. The club recorded a record £104.2m loss and is fighting to avoid relegation with five games remaining, one place above the bottom three.

Karren Brady resigns as West Ham vice-chair after 16 years as Daniel Kretinsky gains greater control

Karren Brady has stepped down as West Ham United’s vice-chair after 16 years, with Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky poised to match David Sullivan’s shareholding by acquiring part of the Gold family’s 25.1% stake. Both Sullivan and Kretinsky will own more than 40% of the club, with Kretinsky becoming joint-chair. The restructure comes as West Ham, 17th in the Premier League with five games remaining, face fan protests over mismanagement and posted a £104.2m loss last year.
