Flesh-eating bug survivor shares harrowing experience to aid research
Caroline Fonjock, 45, narrowly survived necrotising fasciitis, a rare infection that destroys tissue. Initially mistaking it for a boil, her condition rapidly worsened, requiring emergency surgery and skin grafts. Her case is now part of a 10-year study at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, aiming to improve diagnosis and treatment.
