Ebola outbreak confirmed in DRC and Uganda; WHO declares public health emergency
The WHO declared a public health emergency due to a high-mortality outbreak of Bundibugyo virus, a variant of Ebola, in the DRC's Ituri province. A case was also confirmed in Uganda. The virus has a high fatality rate and can spread through close contact.
