Leica Camera AG: New production method for lenses
Leica Camera AG is breaking with tradition by using a new method to produce lenses. In Wetzlar, glass blanks are pressed into aspherical shapes in molds made of tungsten carbide at 700 degrees Celsius and high pressure. The first product to fully utilize this technology is the Noctilux M-35 lens, which is lighter and more compact than its predecessor.
