Around 160 million children globally face stunted growth due to hunger, with a child dying every 10 seconds from malnutrition or its effects, according to Oleg Kobyakov, director of the FAO Liaison Office with Russia. While progress is noted in areas like breastfeeding and reducing anemia, child mortality remains unacceptably high.
