Randwick councillors have voted against a proposal to install 1,400 paid parking spaces at popular Sydney eastern beaches. Residents would have received unlimited free permits, but the plan was rejected 10-5, with opponents citing fairness and the council's existing surplus.
A woman was critically injured in a shark attack at Coogee Beach, Sydney. Restrictions on drone use over the beach will be reviewed to allow rescuers to monitor for sharks, following the incident.
