Lonely veterans' activity fund spent on Royal British Legion building upgrade
Almost £100,000 of public money intended to provide activities for lonely veterans was spent refurbishing a Royal British Legion branch building in Tandragee, County Armagh. The branch received £140,000 in grants from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for three projects including craft workshops, drama performances, and a food delivery service, but internal documents reveal only £41,000 went to these schemes while the majority funded building work including a fully serviced bar. The RBL has since closed the branch.
