ENOC and Allied Aviation Fuel explore sustainable aviation fuel distribution

ENOC and Allied Aviation Fuel signed an MoU to study the commercial feasibility of a long-term distribution pathway for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and sustainable aviation electric fuel. The fuel will be supplied from an integrated production facility developed by Allied Aviation Fuel in Uzbekistan. The agreement aligns with the UAE's Sustainable Aviation Fuel Roadmap 2030 and Climate Neutrality Strategy 2050.

Totally grounded? How the jet fuel crisis could change our holidays – and world history

Jet fuel has doubled in price since the start of the war on Iran. How bad will the disruption get and could this accelerate the route to jet zero? What happens to flights if the world runs out of oil? Well, obviously they will be grounded. To be more specific, is it possible, if the war in Iran does not resolve and the strait of Hormuz remains blocked, that airlines will simply run out of aviation fuel? It’s not a question anyone has had to ask before. Air travel has hit some hurdles this century that nobody could have seen coming – Covid, of course, but also the Icelandic volcano in 2010, which closed much of European airspace for eight days, cost an estimated €3.75bn (£3.2bn) and caused untold supply chain chaos. There have been problems contained within a country or region – the Heathrow substation outage and the Iberian energy crisis, both last year, both closing airports – but since air travel began, it has never been globally impeded by a fuel shortage. EcoCeres to invest HK$10 billion in sustainable aviation fuel plants in Greater Bay Area

A biofuel company backed by the family office of tycoon Peter Lee Ka-kit will invest HK$10 billion (US$1.3 billion) in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production plants in the Greater Bay Area, a project that Hong Kong’s leader has hailed as a “milestone” collaboration between the city and mainland China. EcoCeres, a Hong Kong-based renewable fuel producer backed by the tycoon - who is also chairman of Towngas - unveiled on Tuesday plans to build an SAF plant in Dongguan as part of a green...

Study Converts Carbon Dioxide Into Long-Chain Chemicals for Jet Fuel

Researchers published a study in ACS Catalysis on April 15 detailing a process to convert carbon dioxide directly into long-chain chemicals suitable for jet fuel. The method essentially runs combustion in reverse, recombining waste gas with water to create energy-dense liquid fuel. The breakthrough addresses two major obstacles that have historically hindered this chemical process: carbon chain growth difficulties and low yields of valuable long-chain products.
