22 Monks Arrested in Sri Lanka After 110kg Cannabis Found in Luggage
Twenty-two Buddhist monks have been arrested at Colombo airport in Sri Lanka after customs officials discovered 110kg of cannabis hidden in false walls of their luggage. The monks, mainly students, were returning from an all-expenses-paid four-day holiday in Thailand sponsored by an unnamed benefactor. A 23rd monk believed to have organized the trip was later arrested in a Colombo suburb. Police believe the monks may not have known they were carrying drugs.
