Thousands Clash With Police in Imphal Amid Protests Over Manipur Issues

Thousands of protesters clashed with police in Imphal on Saturday after being stopped from marching to the chief minister’s residence. The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (Cocomi) organized the march, raising concerns about a alleged proxy war, narco-terrorism linked to Kuki groups, and demanding judicial inquiry into the killing of three civilians at Tronglaobi, safe resettlement of IDPs, scrapping of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, and NRC implementation. Around 25 protesters were injured during the police dispersal using tear gas shells and smoke bombs. A Cocomi member was assaulted amid internal discontent over transparency issues.
