Hindu Temple Caretaker Found Dead in Southeastern Bangladesh, Police Probe Murder or Suicide

A Hindu temple caretaker-cum-priest Nayan Sadhu, 40, was found dead three days after going missing in southeastern Bangladesh. His body was discovered hanging from a tree in a hilly area near Khurushkul union in Cox's Bazar district on April 22, 2026. Two unidentified men had taken him on the evening of April 19. Police have sent the body for autopsy and are investigating whether it was murder or suicide. Hindu community organizations have condemned the incident and demanded action, noting 133 communal violence incidents were reported in Bangladesh between January and March 2026.
