Thailand unilaterally scraps 2001 oil and gas exploration MOU with Cambodia; Cambodia initiates UN mediation
Cambodia has initiated UN mediation proceedings after Thailand unilaterally terminated a 2001 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for joint oil and gas exploration in the Gulf of Thailand. The MOU covered a disputed area estimated to hold $300 billion in natural gas and oil reserves.
