Bowes drills a brilliant set shot to trim margin to one point
C
By Chris De Silva
What a finish this is from Jack Bowes!
Bowes caught Wayne Milera holding the ball right on the boundary around 45m out from goal.
He takes a set shot from right on the boundary line on the wrong side for a right-footer, but flushes it perfectly.
Geelong now 14-3 out of the centre bounce for the night and they're making Adelaide pay a hefty, hefty price.
Could Tex Walker be in trouble over this incident?
C
By Chris De Silva
I reckon the MRO will take a good hard look at this incident as well involving Taylor Walker.
Very reckless and dangerous stuff.
Dempsey makes it two goals in a minute for Geelong
C
By Chris De Silva
Hang on, the Cats are right back in this one now!
More boos at the Adelaide Oval as Ollie Dempsey flings Brayden Cook out of the way in a marking contest and takes a one-handed mark.
Dempsey goes back and drills the set shot to draw the margin to just eight points.
Geelong now 3.4 on set shots for the night after those last two goals. Adelaide 3.1 on their attempts.
Neale strikes amid boos after 50m penalty
C
By Chris De Silva
Geelong has a much-needed goal and it comes courtesy of a 50m penalty!
Shannon Neale takes a good contested mark on the wing and the umpires blow a 50m penalty as Hall-Kahan runs through the protected area.
I always think 50m is such a harsh penalty to pay for those ones.
Neale, after missing two set shots in the second term, makes no mistake on this one to keep the Cats in it. Big goal!
Ah Chee makes it four straight for the Crows
C
By Chris De Silva
Uhh oh, danger zone here for Geelong.
A soccer off the ground from Ben Keays ends up in the hands of Cal Ah Chee inside 50.
On a night where players have missed much easier shots, Ah Chee makes no mistake on his attempt from 35m out on a 45 degree angle.
Adelaide out to a game-high 20-point lead now.
They're well-deserving of this lead after coming out stronger of the two sides after half-time.
Crows on top early in third quarter
C
By Chris De Silva
It feels like Adelaide is hunting for what might be a killer blow in this quarter.
The Crows have dominated the territory battle to start the third term and the inside 50s are now dead-even at 30 apiece.
Adelaide currently holding a 14-point lead, if they're able to get the next one, it'll be tough for Geelong in these conditions.
Having said that, there is still plenty of football to be played.
Dawson strikes as O'Connor gives away free kick
C
By Chris De Silva
Adelaide has the all-important first goal of the third quarter and it's the skipper Jordan Dawson who gets it!
Dawson is the deepest forward and is one-out with Mark O'Connor, who panics and grabs him around the arms.
That's a free kick every day of the week. Geelong in an early danger-zone.
Dawson yet to miss on a set shot so far this season, he's at a perfect 6.0.
The second half is underway in Adelaide
C
By Chris De Silva
It's truly anyone's game as play commences at the Adelaide Oval.
One thing to be mindful of is that a 20-point lead in these conditions might be a game-winning one.
With that being said, Adelaide would love to get the first goal of the third term to stretch this margin out a little.
Dangerfield at the centre bounce again to start the quarter.
Could Tom Stewart be in trouble for this hit?
C
By Chris De Silva
I reckon the MRO will take a real close look at this hit from Tom Stewart on Cal Ah Chee in the second quarter.
HT: Adelaide 6.3 (39) leads Geelong 4.9 (33)
C
By Chris De Silva
Adelaide extends its quarter-time lead ever so slightly to take a six-point lead into the main break.
The conditions are less than ideal out here, both both teams have thrown the absolute kitchen sink at each other.
Adelaide has been just a little more clinical going forward, and it shows in the accuracy in front of goal.
Bailey Smith, Max Holmes and Patrick Dangerfield lead the way with 18 touches apiece.
Dan Curtin is Adelaide's leading ball-winner with 16 touches and also has three clearances.
The Crows have gotten on top in the clearance count leading in 23-20, and the inside 50s still see Geelong leading 28-23.
It's been a thoroughly contested game out there and the Cats lead the contested possession count 90-76.
Crows skipper Jordan Dawson has also been brilliant with 13 touches, four intercepts and four score involvements to go along with his goal.
Geelong will want Jeremy Cameron to get back into this game in the second half. He's been held to just five disposals so far.
Keays strikes from close range
C
By Chris De Silva
Adelaide continues to remain dangerous heading forward!
Ben Keays drills Adelaide's sixth goal of the night just a minute before the half-time siren.
Can the Crows add another one here?
Neale with a pair of set shot misses as Cats stay inaccurate
C
By Chris De Silva
Geelong now up to 4.9 for the night in front of goal as Shannon Neale misses a pair of shots inside a minute.
Neale hitting the post on the second attempt, which was much better than his first.
Scores level despite Geelong having five more scoring shots.
Dangerfield still leading all players with disposals, he's now up to 17.
Dawson strikes from long-range after turnover
C
By Chris De Silva
Jordan Dawson reads Zach Guthrie's mind and chops off a kick outside of defensive 50.
Dawson takes the mark 45m out directly in front and then flushes the set shot from just outside 50.
The Adelaide skipper is now up to 13 touches and has a clearance as well.
Henry and Walker exchange quick goals as debutant shines
C
By Chris De Silva
Jack Henry gets Geelong back in front with a quick reply after Taylor Walker's opener.
Adelaide's debutant Hugo Hall-Kahan with a lovely kick off halfback in the build-up to the Walker goal.
Hall-Kahan has been excellent so far, he's got eight touches and looks right at home at this level.
That was Walker's 300th career goal at the Adelaide Oval.
Martin strikes with a snap to put Cats in front
C
By Chris De Silva
Jack Martin is up and about here!
He crumbs beautifully at the front of a big pack and gets on the end of a handball from Jack Henry and snaps truly on the right boot.
Lovely finish in these conditions. Martin with two goals now, he should've had three.
Stewart denies Rachele on the goal line
C
By Chris De Silva
Josh Rachele almost kicks an absolute ripper out of nothing, but Tom Stewart is there in the nick of time.
Stewart gets a palm on it right on the goal line.
That would've hurt the Cats considering how much territorial dominance they've enjoyed.
Geelong dominating territory to start second term
C
By Chris De Silva
Geelong with the first three inside 50s of the second quarter, but so far they've not provided any dividends.
Adelaide's defence holding up well for the moment.
QT: Adelaide 3.2 (20) leads Geelong 2.6 (18)
C
By Chris De Silva
Brayden Cook becomes the latest player to miss a regulation set shot after the siren, but the Crows take a two-point lead into the first change.
Geelong will be bitterly disappointed to be behind after dominating the first half of the quarter.
The Cats lead the disposal count 112-88, the inside 50 count 16-10 and the clearance count 13-11, including a 5-1 lead out of centre bounces.
Geelong skipper Patrick Dangerfield has turned in a virtuoso first quarter performance at his old home ground.
Dangerfield, who is averaging 12 disposals a game this season, already has 13 touches and five clearances in an increased midfield role so far tonight.
Ten of Dangerfield's 13 touches have been contested and he's also kicked a goal to top it all up, talk about stepping into a time machine.
Crows skipper Jordan Dawson leads the way for his side with nine disposals, while Dan Curtin has three clearances.
Both sides are struggling in the conditions, but Adelaide seems to be more intent on just claiming territory, while Geelong has been a little more deliberate.
