At Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday, Tweed, 39, pleaded guilty to one charge of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
He apologised to the court and said he had taken the drug to "help me sleep" after experiencing depression and anxiety.
The court heard that Tweed, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother UK in 2007, was taken to a police station for a blood sample which recorded 5.6 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol – the main active component of cannabis – in his system, exceeding the limit of two micrograms.
The court fined Tweed £692 and ordered him to pay a surcharge of £277 and costs of £85.
