Jeff Bezos's Extensive Real Estate Portfolio Spans Coasts and Islands

Jeff Bezos, one of the richest people alive on earth, has built a residential portfolio that stretches from the Pacific Northwest to South Florida over more than two decades, according to a report from Robb Report. The Amazon founder's holdings span coastal estates, historic city residences, and a Hawaiian retreat, reflecting a buying pattern that often involves acquiring neighboring properties to expand existing compounds. Beyond the houses, his assets afloat include two yachts, Koru and Abeona.

West Coast roots Bezos's property collection began in Medina, Washington, in 1998, when he spent $10 million on a 5.3-acre lakefront compound; roughly $28 million in renovations followed a decade later. In 2010, he expanded that footprint further by adding the neighboring 25,460-square-foot La Haye mansion for $45 million. A third Medina home, purchased in 2019 for $37.5 million, was sold in 2025 for $63 million, the highest price ever paid for a residence in the state. Bezos moved south into California in 2020, acquiring a 10-acre Beverly Hills estate for $165 million. The Georgian-style mansion spans about 14,000 square feet and includes a nine-hole golf course among its grounds. Additionally, his venture capital firm Bezos Expeditions invested $90 million in a tract of undeveloped land in Los Angeles from the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, source told Reuters.

East Coast footprint On the opposite coast, Bezos has assembled holdings in both Washington, DC and Manhattan. His DC presence dates to 2016, when he paid $23 million for the former Textile Museum in Kalorama, a 26,900-square-foot property later combined into a single residence through a reported $12 million renovation. A house across the street, bought for $5 million in 2020, rounded out that compound. In New York, Bezos's footprint traces back even further, to 1999, when he began buying units at the Century on Central Park West, eventually combining four apartments into more than 6,100 square feet. Twenty years later, he moved downtown, purchasing a penthouse and several floors at 212 Fifth Avenue for $81 million in 2019. Two further unit purchases brought his total spend in that building to $120 million across nearly 25,000 square feet.

Florida expansion Bezos's most recent buying spree has centered on Indian Creek Island in Miami, where he has spent $234 million on three adjoining waterfront properties since 2023. The first, a 2.8-acre estate with a 1965 modernist mansion, cost $68 million. A larger, 19,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style property followed in October 2023 for $79 million, and a third, 12,000-square-foot home was added in mid-2024 for $87 million. Bezos has cited proximity to family as a reason for relocating from Seattle to the area.

Hawaii retreat Rounding out the portfolio is a 14-acre compound near Kihei, Maui, purchased in 2021 for $78 million, a record sum for the island. The property includes a 4,500-square-foot main house, a smaller guest house, and a private stretch of beach along La Perouse Bay.
