Kim Jong Un Inspects DPRK Military Industry Enterprises

Kim Jong Un inspected several DPRK military industry enterprises on May 13, accompanied by high-ranking officials. He reviewed the fulfillment of first-half 2026 military production plans, noting the enthusiasm of defense industry workers in ensuring record growth in ammunition production, which significantly contributes to the Korean People’s Army’s combat capability. However, he also identified shortcomings in the industry’s structure, production, and infrastructure, emphasizing the need for modernization, including optimizing technological processes, improving management efficiency, hiring qualified personnel, and introducing quality control measures.

At another plant, Kim Jong Un set the goal of producing high-precision multipurpose, special, and training ammunition, considering the army’s needs. He stressed the importance of strengthening mortar and howitzer units and creating a specialized complex for artillery production, while modernizing small arms factories for future armed forces needs.

KCNA noted that Kim’s instructions provide a scientific guideline for the quickest path to modernizing the munitions industry, aiming for a radical turn in national defense through accelerated qualitative, quantitative, and technical transformation in production.
