Leandro Paredes in a heated moment with Spain midfielder Gavi after the FIFA World Cup final

To tell you the truth, I don’t think they should be suspended. I understand it’s not a good image for the kids, for the children, but I think there’s also that side of football that’s a bit more aggressive.” He added that any punishment should have been dealt with during the game itself rather than afterwards. “Perhaps the most logical thing for me would be to send him off during the match and that’s it. But as I said, in the end I think it’s all football and it always has to be that way,” he noted. Although Gavi has urged against further punishment, FIFA has already launched an investigation into the incidents that took place after the final whistle. Reports suggest that several Argentina players could still face disciplinary action depending on the outcome of the investigation. The governing body is expected to review the confrontations before deciding whether any additional sanctions are necessary.
