Russian authorities are considering a short-term ban lasting a few months on diesel fuel exports by producers, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told TASS, adding that the country currently has a surplus of diesel, with the measure intended to ensure a higher volume of supply.
"We are looking at a short timeframe. We have a surplus of diesel, which is why a few months are sufficient to supply the domestic market in greater volume and replenish stocks," he said.
Novak said at Russian President Vladimir Putin's meeting with government members earlier that the authorities were considering the possibility of imposing a complete ban on diesel fuel exports.
In early June, the Russian government imposed a temporary ban on the export of aviation kerosene, which will remain in effect until November 30, 2026. The measure aims to ensure stability in the domestic fuel market.
