Samsung SDS, LG CNS Secure Sales Rights for ChatGPT Edu in South Korea

SEOUL, April 27 (Yonhap) -- Samsung SDS Co. and LG CNS Co. have secured respective sales rights for ChatGPT Edu in South Korea as part of their partnerships with OpenAI, the companies said Monday. Samsung SDS, the information technology (IT) service arm of Samsung Group, signed a reseller partnership agreement with OpenAI to provide ChatGPT Edu to educational institutions, according to the company. ChatGPT Edu is a version of ChatGPT designed for schools and universities to provide artificial intelligence (AI) services to students, faculty, researchers and campus operations. Through the partnership, Samsung SDS plans to expand its services to schools, publishers and other educational institutions seeking to adopt generative AI in education and research. The partnership follows an agreement in December under which Samsung SDS secured reselling rights for ChatGPT Enterprise. LG CNS, an IT affiliate of LG Electronics, also struck a separate partnership with OpenAI and plans to introduce ChatGPT Edu programs to universities in Seoul and surrounding areas. It will also operate the OpenAI Launch Center to provide consulting services and technical support to institutions.
