Taylor Swift Songs Removed from Donald Trump Campaign and White House TikTok Videos

Several Taylor Swift songs have been removed from social media videos posted by Donald Trump's campaign and the White House, reviving the long-running political feud between the world's biggest pop star and the US president.

The Trump campaign and White House have used several Swift tracks in TikTok videos, including songs from her more recent catalogue as well as earlier hits.

Among them was Swift's 2020 song August, used in a Team Trump video showing the president and First Lady Melania Trump watching fireworks.

The account appeared to acknowledge the provocative nature of the choice, tagging Swift and suggesting she would be "super excited" that her music had been used.

The audio has since disappeared from the post.

Other Swift songs, including Father Figure and Opalite, have also been removed from Trump-related TikTok videos, and several other tracks have disappeared from White House and campaign posts.

Some of the affected videos now display notices indicating the music is unavailable because of a copyright claim or has been made unavailable by the copyright owner.

Neither Swift nor the White House immediately responded to requests for comment. There has been no public statement from the 36-year-old singer explaining whether she personally authorised action against the videos.

The removals have attracted attention because of Swift's history with Mr Trump, who likes to use well-known pop songs to motivate his supporters.

Mr Trump and his political operation have repeatedly invoked Swift, despite her opposition to him.

During the 2024 election campaign, Trump shared AI-generated images that falsely suggested Swift and some of her fans were supporting him.

Swift subsequently cited the fake images as one of the reasons she decided to make her own voting intentions clear.

The latest dispute also comes amid broader tensions between the Trump administration and musicians over the political use of their work.

Artists including Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter have objected to their music being associated with Trump or his administration.

Swift's political journey and Harris endorsement

For much of her early career, Swift carefully avoided partisan politics.

That changed dramatically in 2018 when she publicly entered the political arena ahead of the midterm elections in Tennessee, where she was registered to vote.

Swift endorsed Democrats Phil Bredesen for the US Senate and Jim Cooper for the House of Representatives while criticising Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn.

She said she had previously been reluctant to reveal her political opinions but had changed her approach following events in her own life and in the US. Ms Blackburn ultimately defeated Mr Bredesen.

Swift became more outspoken during Mr Trump's first presidency.

In May 2020, during the unrest following the death of George Floyd, she accused Mr Trump of inflaming racial divisions and told him: "We will vote you out in November."

Later that year she formally endorsed Democratic candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, saying their leadership offered America an opportunity to begin a "healing process".

Her involvement intensified during the 2024 presidential campaign.

After initially remaining silent about the contest, Swift joined a long list of show-business identities in endorsing Ms Harris immediately following her September debate against Mr Trump.

Swift told her enormous Instagram following that she was supporting Ms Harris because the vice-president fought for rights and causes that she believed needed "a warrior" to champion them.

She described Ms Harris as a "steady-handed, gifted leader" and said the US could achieve more if governed by "calm and not chaos".

She signed the endorsement "Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady", a pointed reference to controversial comments previously made by Mr Trump's running mate JD Vance.

Mr Trump responded furiously.

"I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" he posted on social media shortly after her endorsement.

His attacks continued even after he defeated Ms Harris and returned to the White House.

In 2025, Mr Trump mocked Swift again, questioning whether she was still "HOT" since he had publicly declared his dislike for her.

Despite the exchanges, Swift has largely avoided commenting publicly on Mr Trump during his second term.
