A 15-year-old boy was found with serious injuries after an altercation between a group of teenagers, Victoria Police said.
Ambulance Victoria said paramedics responded to reports of an incident in Cranbourne North at around 3:20pm, where they treated one patient.
"A teenage boy was transported by road ambulance to hospital with upper body injuries in a serious condition," a spokesperson said.
Police said the group of teenagers fled the scene on foot.
The Department of Education said the injured teenager was a student of Alkira Secondary College but that the assault took place "outside the school and after school hours".
"The college is providing wellbeing support to those involved," a department spokesperson said.
The ABC understands the alleged offender is not an Alkira Secondary College student.
