A training aircraft crashed near Baramati airport in Pune district on Wednesday morning after developing a technical snag mid-flight, police said. The aircraft, belonging to Red Bird Aviation, made a crash landing near Gojubavi village adjacent to the airport at around 8:50 am. According to Pune Rural SP Sandeep Singh Gill, the aircraft developed a technical issue while flying at low altitude. Only one trainee pilot was on board and did not suffer serious injuries. Police immediately responded and an inquiry is underway.

Twenty-four people were hospitalised after a chlorine gas leak from an abandoned tank at a defunct water purification plant in Pune's Kondhwa area. The leak occurred around 1 am in the Gangadham area. Twenty-two residents and two fire personnel complained of breathlessness and were rushed to Sassoon General Hospital. All affected are out of danger and under observation. The tank had remained unattended after the plant was dismantled.
