Lehi Hopoate on report for running into Grant Atkins

S

By Simon Smale

Something from the first half that we missed at the time.

Lehi Hopoate ran right into the back of Grant Atkins and he's been placed on report for it.

So Atkins has been run into twice today.

He's made more effective tackles than many of the Tigers have...

I'll start.

"Umm, where's my defence?"

62' MANLY ARE RUNNING RIOT!

S

By Simon Smale

Haumole Olakau'atu ON THE CHARGE!

He breaks through at real pace.

Sunia Turuva dives in and takes out his legs with a shoulder - does that count as a shoulder charge? Probably not.

Jason Saab finishes off the move with the Tigers on the run.

This is going from bad to worse.

Fair play to Grant Atkins, who hit the deck hard as he chased back after being clattered by Alex Seyfarth, but he bounced up and is showing no ill effects.

It's the second time in this match.

Olakau'atu is sore getting up - a bit of cramp? New South Wales fans will hope so - Maroons, less so.

The kick is good.

It's 46-8.

60' ANOTHER TRY MANLY!

S

By Simon Smale

Taniela Paseka saw what Haumole Olakau'atu was getting and though, I'll have some of that!

He takes the crash ball 10 metres out from the line and takes three Tigers over the line with him.

The Tigers hope that at least one of those tacklers got their hand under the ball, but the 6-foot-6 prop wriggled his way over the line and burrowed the ball into the turf.

The kick from in front is good and it's 40-8.

59' Professional foul! Mason is in the bin!

S

By Simon Smale

That was superb from Jamal Fogarty.

Fogarty kicked forward, Heath Mason stuck the arm out and obstructed the running halfback.

Luke Brooks flew through to try and get on the end of the ball but he won't get there.

It's no try, but the Tigers are down to 10.

57' What a try for Saab!

S

By Simon Smale

Clayton Faulalo take a deep, deep bow.

The fullback has been superb all day, but he has been brilliant there.

He darts into the line and attracts the attention of Luai, throwing a magical pass out to Saab, who has a 20-metre-long highway to run into to score.

My, my, my, what a pass.

The kick is missed! That's the first one for the night - although it was from the right sideline.

The score is 34-8.

55' Luai tries to ignite his team, knocks the ball on instead

S

By Simon Smale

Oh dear.

It's just not happening for the Tigers today.

Jarome Luai, as has often happened in the last couple of games, has gone missing a bit but tries to do something with the ball there, fending off a couple of tacklers on a standing start and then gets tackled, losing the ball forward.

Scrum on half way for the Sea Eagles.

49' Ethan Roberts with another error

S

By Simon Smale

That's his second for the game from memory - a poor play the ball that gives Manly the scrum just inside their own half.

Tigers under fire...

Oh Tiges... 😔🧡🤍🖤

47' Patrick Herbert on report

S

By Simon Smale

Patrick Herbert has slammed Lehi Hopoate's head into the turf.

The Sea Eagles centre has strolled back into the defensive live, at which point he's been told he needs to go off for an HIA - understandably.

44' Haumole Olakau'atu is UNSTOPPABLE!

S

By Simon Smale

I mean, good luck.

He is an enormous man and it took three Tigers there to even slow him down.

They did provide something of a speed bump after Luke Brooks delivered the short pass.

But they couldn't stop him from reaching over and slamming the ball down.

Olakua'atu in this sort of form is irresistible.

Sorry in advance, Queensland fans.

The kick is good, the score is 30-8.

41' We're back underway

S

By Simon Smale

Manly are attacking Caxton Street this half.

Tigers bring the ball back off the Manly kick off.

Haumole Olakau'atu is on fire

S

By Simon Smale

He has had seven hit ups which have resulted in four tackle busts.

Wow.

From eight runs, he's made 101 metres.

Huge numbers from the backrower.

Just give the man the ball.

HT: Manly power into lead against tentative Tigers

S

By Simon Smale

A very good start for the Sea Eagles has put them in the box seat in this game.

The Tigers defence was absolutely woeful in those opening 20 minutes or so.

However, they tightened up and proved that when they have the ball in Manly territory they can be dangerous.

The difficulty is, keeping it there.

Manly, impressive.

Tigers, need to improve.

40' Penalty Tigers

S

By Simon Smale

Oh, Manly were offside through Ben Trbojevic so the Tigers will have another chance.

This time the siren goes and they're going to have to take the kick.

They will - although it suspiciously looked as though they attempted another quick tap there.

Jock Madden kicks the extras and it's 24-8 at the break.

39' Tigers miss their chance but may get another

S

By Simon Smale

Luai attempts a neat grubber through for May, but it is slapped out for a goal-line drop out.

Incredibly, Manly go short.

The Tigers win it, and get another penalty!

38' Penalty Tigers

S

By Simon Smale

Last chance for the Tigers before half time.

Jake Trbojevic was offside for the Sea Eagles.

The Tigers will have a chance inside the Sea Eagles 10.

33' Clayton Faulalo scores!

S

By Simon Smale

Very, very nice from the Sea Eagles.

A brilliant try, Haumole Olakau'atu bursting through one tackle, getting the ball away and then releasing Faulalo who races through to score.

BUT HANG ON!

Faulolo has gone down as he's been tackled over the line and is struggling with his ankle a bit.

He looks a bit sore.

The kick is good, the score is 24-6, a deserved 24-6 too in favour of Manly.
