BEIJING, May 15. /TASS/. Presidents Xi Jinping of China and Donald Trump of the United States held an open, constructive and profound exchange of opinions on bilateral and global issues, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.
"During this visit, President Xi Jinping and President Trump held an open, profound, constructive, and strategic exchange of opinions on the key issues of Chinese-American relations, as well as global peace and development," the Chinese foreign ministry quoted him as saying.
The sides discussed "opportunities for the right cooperation between the great powers" and reached a consensus, he said.
According to the top Chinese diplomat, the talks between the two leaders were "an important signal to the world." "The great rebirth of the Chinese nation and the return of America’s greatness can go hand in hand, complementing each other and benefiting the entire world," he added.
China and the United States, in his words, should jointly and "in the spirit of the time" answer "the questions of history, peace, and nations."
