Japan's Akita Prefecture to Cut 361 Trees Around Schools to Prevent Bear Attacks

Japan's Akita Prefectural Board of Education will cut down 361 trees surrounding 14 high schools and 4 special needs schools to prevent bear attacks. Akita Sparkling Special Needs School will lose 255 trees planted in 2010, following multiple bear sightings and incidents on campus.
