
FATF Urges Regulation for 'Decentralized in Name Only' DeFi Platforms
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) reported that many DeFi platforms are centralized in practice and fall under its anti-money-laundering rules. It urges countries to regulate identifiable controllers as virtual asset service providers, with banning non-cooperating platforms as a last resort, noting nearly 93% of jurisdictions haven't applied these rules.
