Florida Zoo Celebrates First Koala Birth, Opens Renovated Habitat
Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society in West Palm Beach, Florida celebrates its first koala birth, a joey born to parents Ellin and Sydney last fall. The joey is now visible after remaining in its mother's pouch. The zoo also opens a newly renovated habitat featuring more greenery, new perching structures, and solar tubes for natural light. Koalas are an endangered species, and the U.S. population is on loan from the Australian federal government to support conservation efforts.
