Government Appoints New Members to Niti Aayog Think Tank
The Indian government has appointed academics Joram Aniya and R Balasubramaniam as new members of Niti Aayog. Aniya is the first woman from the Nyishi community to earn a doctorate and the first in Hindi language in Arunachal Pradesh. Balasubramaniam is a physician who taught at Cornell University and holds a master's from Harvard Kennedy School. Former chief economic adviser Ashok Lahiri was named vice chairman last month, with other new members including Gobardhan Das, K V Raju, M Srinivas and Abhay Karandikar.
