Black Children in England and Wales Almost Eight Times More Likely to Be Strip-Searched by Police

A report by England's children's commissioner reveals Black children are almost eight times more likely to be strip-searched by police than white children, a disparity that has worsened since the last report. The data from July 2023-June 2024 shows 362 strip-searches of under-18s, with Black children overrepresented in both strip-searches and use of force. The findings come five years after the high-profile Child Q case.
