South Korea's Seoul High Court increased former First Lady Kim Keon Hee's corruption sentence to four years, convicting her of receiving gifts including a Graff diamond necklace and Chanel bags from the Unification Church, and of stock price manipulation. The appeals court also reversed her acquittal on the manipulation charge. Her husband, ousted President Yoon Suk Yeol, was sentenced to life in prison for rebellion in December 2024. Kim has been in jail since August 2025 and plans to appeal to the Supreme Court.

South Korea's second comprehensive special counsel team raided the Korean National Police Agency and two other police offices on Monday over alleged mishandling of an investigation into suspected overseas gambling by Unification Church officials. Prosecutors are investigating claims that police obtained information in June 2022 that church leader Han Hak-ja and officials spent 60 billion won on gambling in Las Vegas between 2008-2011, but suspended the investigation after the intelligence was leaked to political circles, allegedly involving People Power Party Rep. Kweon Seong-dong.
