X's new Cashtags feature has generated approximately $1 billion in trading volume since its launch on Tuesday, according to head of product Nikta Bier. The smart feature enables US and Canadian iPhone users to view stock and crypto data directly in the app, with Canadian users able to trade through a partnership with Wealthsimple. The launch is part of Elon Musk's vision to transform X into an everything app with peer-to-peer payments.
