Italian professional golfer Andrea Pavan, 36, suffered severe injuries in February when he fell three stories down an open elevator shaft at his private accommodation near Stellenbosch Golf Club in South Africa, hours before the South African Open. The two-time DP World Tour winner sustained shoulder damage and vertebral fractures requiring major surgery, spending seven days in hospital. He has now returned to his home in Texas and says he is optimistic about returning to play, with initial recovery expected around three months and full healing around six months.
